Mathew and Ursula Gerbic Quite a bit of research needs to be done in Slovenia.  Because of all the wars in the area the towns names have changed as well as their counties.  Trieste has been part of Slovenia, Yugoslavia, Italy and Austria in the last 100 years, talk about confusing.  Old maps need to be consulted for the location of these towns.  Most people in the past tend to marry from nearby villages, rarely were they from across the country.  If this is the case of Mathew and Ursula it should make finding more about them easier.  Luckily we now have the Internet, this should make the task doable.

Frank and Emma Gerbic  Did these two meet in Slovenia or here in America?  It is more likely that Frank was already married or engaged to Emma before he immigrated to America, then sent for her.  I have some paperwork for a young man that could have been her brother. XXXXXXXXXXX

John F. Gerbic  Without an exact death day many places will not research for a death certificate.  Victor says that he died in a Soldiers & Sailors home in Dayton, Ohio.  This isn't as easy as it seems because after WWI there were a lot of military hospitals but now these have changed hands and may even have different names.  I have tried the Cleveland Brecksville VA hospital (216)526-3030 and they have no record of him.  Possibly the Chillicothe Veterans VA is another place to check.  I mailed a request to the Ohio vital statistics in Columbus for the years 53-55 and they have no record for him during those years.  Then I requested again for the year 1967 and they sent it back saying that they will not do research, I need to know the day of death.

Mary Skufca Gerbic

Andrew Repcik  Born Dec. 10, 1876 (nineteen months after Emma Repcik Gerbic) from Austria, living in Cleveland, buried in the same cemetery as Emma, could it be her brother.  I have no idea, but it is intriguing, finding his newspaper obit (died in 1930) would have "preceded in death by...." His death certificate would have a name saying who gave the info, also might include his parents names.  His SS5 might also give parents names.  He may have WWI paperwork also.  I would think that Emma probably didn't come to America alone, and would most probably have come with a male relative.  If this is her brother, a whole bunch of avenues are now open that were closed with her.  If not then it will just be a good exercise in document research.

Rudolph C. Gerbic b. August 11, 1901 d. May 23, 1990. Margaret Gerbic b. Oct 12, 1903 d. June 23, 1989 buried Dunlo United Methodist Church Cemetery Cambria City, Pennsylvania.  Sent to Pennsylvania Department of Heath: Vital Records for Death Certificate (mailed 4/25/05 wait 3-4 weeks for reply)  Once I get a response I will be able to discover who parents are and possibly informants name.  Margaret lived to be 85 and Rudolph to 89 and probably have children and maybe a informative newspaper article.  Need to research this as well.  This could lead me to more Gerbics or connect up with some others.  Received death certificate, shows that Rudolph C. Gerbic is actually Rudolph C. Gerbec.  Father: Anton Gerbec, Mother: Rosalia Tenesiiovia.  No more work is needed to be done on this man.  Will hold onto info in case someone contacts me asking for help with their ancestor.

Charles Gerbic C. Gerbic killed in crash of Japan jet after leaving runway in Russia.  Nov 29, 1972.  C. Gerbic boarded the plane in Moscow.  According to the Chronicle Telegram newspaper in Elyria, Ohio. The "Holland Evening Sentinel" announced that the person killed is Charles Gerbic of San Francisco.  This person must be Charles Gerbic b. June 1st 1932 d. Nov. 1972, California (appears on SSDI)  Just received this person's SS5 form that he filled out June 23, 1949, it turns out that his name is Charles Christopher Gerbich whose full name at birth was Charles Alden Berwert.  Case closed, this is not a Lost Gerbic anymore.

Mrs. Anna Gerbic (54 or 34, buy most likely 54) "was killed when struck by an auto while alighting from a bus. "Zanesville, Ohio, "The Zanesville Signal" March 24, 1934.  I sent away for this woman's death certificate on May 2nd, 2005.
